100 Years of Chinese Art

Selected by Wylie Wong and Jack Van Hiele
June 3 - July 26, 2008

This exhibition surveys one of the most exciting and innovative periods in Chinese art – the end of the Qing dynasty to today's Peoples Republic of China. Artworks from traditional subjects and formats to works in contemporary style are on display.
"We are showcasing a fascinating microcosm of Chinese social and political currents of the time, ranging from 1911 revolutionaries to a Buddhist monk artist and an art-for-art's-sake artist working in France," states co-curator Wylie Wong.
Major 20th century Chinese masters featured include Ren Bonian, Qi Baishi, Xu Beihong, Zhang Daqian, Fu Baoshi, Li Keran, Lu Yanshao and Wu Guanzhong. Also on exhibit are works by Chinese artists living in the U.S.– Chung-Ray Fong, Kek Tee Lim, Wanxin Zhang, Baoping Chen, Steve Yee, Christopher Cheung and Justine Lo.
